Kicks & Sticks

Being a drummer myself for over 15 years, getting good drum sounds starts with good drums. Our house kit is a beautiful Walnut/Maple, Mapex Saturn V in deep water burl, flanked by a collection of cymbals from Zildjian, Paiste and Saluda.

“A kit’s personality is in the snare”

We have a collection of snares of all depths and shell types from the classic brass Ludwig Black Beauty & the deep walnut/birch Mapex Black Panther ‘Shadow’ to a custom made, stave oak piccolo, all available to you to find the perfect voice for your drum sound.

Things with strings

When you come to record at GNA recording studio, we want to provide you with as many high quality tools as we can. We have over a dozen guitars and basses for you to choose from. We have a broad selection of guitars for you to use like classics from Fender and Gibson, a variety of electro-acoustics and acoustics from the likes of Taylor, Gitane and Washburn. If you see something you like, let us know and we can ensure it is in top condition, set up and ready for you to play when you come to record!

“There is nothing like a real piano!”

Quite possibly my favourite thing in the studio is our 1973, Japanese made Yamaha U3 Piano. While virtual instruments have come on leaps and bounds in the past decade, there is still nothing like the touch and feel you get from a real piano ‘in the room’ being captured by top quality microphones.

Things for Strings

One of the advantages of being in a professional studio over a home set up is getting loud. Being able to push the gain to where it sounds best, not just what your neighbours will put up with, brings out all those tones you’ve been missing from your amp. Take any of our amps for a spin when you come to record with us. We have modern offerings from Aguilar and PRS, as well as more vintage amps from VOX, Peavey and Dallas and a growing collection of pedals from the likes of Earthquaker Devices, Boss, Ibanez & TC Electronic.

Bleeps & Bloops

Take advtange of our expanding collection of mono and polysynths, drum machines, samplers and all manner of electronic instruments at the studio. Whether you are looking for classic analogue sounds from records over the decades, creating lush sound design, infusing your classic instrument driven songs with an electronic vibe, all the way to modern electornic genres - you can find pretty much any sound you can desire at GNA recording studio.
